Programming Language
This is a programming language. It may be used to instruct computers to accomplish a variety of tasks which may or may not be domain-specific.
Structured Query Language (SQL) is the lingua franca for modifying and performing queries in database systems. It is mostly declarative, but each database vendor has extended their dialect of SQL in various incompatible ways to give it more power.
