Solution pages

Hey there. I see you've been creating separate pages for the long output from Mathprog programs. That's good, but I want to suggest creating pages with titles like Task name/Language name to make sure people using every language can get a separate page if they need it. A page like KnapU sol should go at Knapsack problem/Unbounded/Mathprog instead. An added benefit of doing that is that it automatically adds a link back to the task at the top of the output page. Thanks for your solutions so far. It's nice to get new languages here. --Mwn3d 14:20, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Nigel, you've been asked before to sign your posts. You're still occasionally leaving those off, and the appearance is that you simply don't care. Please sign your posts. --Michael Mol 19:17, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Math on RC

Did you know that we can use pieces of text like “<math>a_1 + b^2</math>” (with TeX/LaTeX formatted code inside) to create stuff that renders as:

This lets you avoid having to fiddle around with uploading pictures. (Mediawiki's configured to convert simple math to UNICODE for rendering, and complex stuff gets run through (La)TeX.) It's pretty awesome to use this for things like Continued fractions… –Donal Fellows 21:28, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Huge Ruby example

Hi, You've just added a simply huge example in Ruby to a page. Could you modify it to read the dict from a file or, if you insist on keeping it as it is, could you move it to a sub-page on its own. Thanks. --Paddy3118 15:30, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Respectful behavior toward other users, and towards this site.

Nigel, you're exhibiting a pattern of being aggressive, insulting and rude towards other users. Example: "A lot of hot air for somthing that doesn't exist!" and "First, the message left on my user talk page by one genius" Please don't. Further, when you have disagreements with other users, please provide specific arguments to back up your positions; the discussion at Talk:Kaprekar_numbers contains an example: "I did not break the origional solution, I made it solve the task.". In that sentence, you're not explaining what part of the original task it wasn't solving. All in all, it reads like you just don't care about what other contributors think of you, and that makes RC a hostile environment. I don't have the time to play tutor in netiquette and social skills. If I see such malicious behavior again, I will suspend your account for a limited duration. --Michael Mol 19:27, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Micael, for clarification you are wrong in fact, see http://rosettacode.org/wiki/User_talk:Short_Circuit#Respectful_behavior_toward_other_users.2C_and_towards_this_site. The posting "First, the message left on my user talk page by one genius" was left by ledrug. Netiquette is very important. The attitude that any part of the net should be a "hostile environment" is unacceptable. It is the responsibility of site owners to ensure that it is not, shortage of time is not a good enough reason.--Nigel Galloway 14:15, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
