IEEE or Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is an organization for the advancement of technology related to electricity. One of the most notable aspects of IEEE is the IEEE Standards Association, which standardizes floating point number handling and representation (under IEEE 754), various electrical and electronic devices, methods, and media such as network communication (under IEEE 802), POSIX (under IEEE 1003), and VHDL (under IEEE 1076).
