Split?

This task is currently tackling both client and server sides, but wouldn't it be better to split it into two pieces? (Experience from support questions suggests that the client side is more useful overall, e.g., for controlling Excel spreadsheets.) –Donal Fellows 13:56, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
