Diagram

The task needs a diagram, RC does not allow diagram upload, and I am crap at ASCII art, but I have tried. I have stashed the SVG diagram [on google drive ], on [github], and on [wikimedia commons] and hope one survives.

Inspiration

I worte the task after answering a Finite elements quetion on Stack Overflow, but I don't work in that field , and the guy with the question was a PHD student, so the task may stray from FE norms. (My apologies).
